USTA
The CCTA hosts two large USTA open tournaments each year. The Buc Days Tournament, typically held in March or April is a Major Zone tournament. The Thanksgiving tournament is typically the weekend before Thanksgiving. Both of these tournaments have multiple draws for both doubles and singles play.
Around town there are multiple play days or UTR tournaments put on by various clubs and professionals. The CCTA strives to keep an updated calendar and to include as many events as possible. If we have missed an event around town, let us know and we will try to add it to the calendar!
Universal Tennis
UTR tournament draws are round robins that split the players in hopes that the level of play is fairly similar so that players get a chance to play competitive matches. Each UTR provider will create, set-up and run their tournaments. HEB Tennis Center, Al Kruse Tennis Center, and Corpus Christi Athletic Club are facilities that host UTR tournaments locally here in Corpus Christi.
There are no official umpires for these tournaments. Any issues will be handled by the tournament director.
Social League
Sets & Sangria was founded by the Corpus Christi Tennis Association in 2015. It is a young adult social tennis league with a happy hour twist! It brings together adults 21 to 39 years of age living in Corpus Christi through the sport of tennis.
Sets & Sangria consists of casual non-competitive timed matches played on Wednesday evenings at a local high school for six weeks in the fall and six weeks in the spring. After tennis, the group makes their way to a local bar/restaurant that has elected to partner with the Corpus Christi Tennis Association to continue the fun!
For more information regarding Sets and Sangria, visit the Facebook page or contact Benson Smith at [email protected].
Wheel Chair Tennis
The program will consist of drills for movement and ball striking. Players must sign up (see link below) to ensure that we have adequate coaching staff and reserve enough courts. If you would like to participate but do not have a chair or a racket, please let us know when you sign up. The CCTA is working on obtaining chairs that players can borrow on a first come, first serve basis. Please let us know if you will need a racket as well.
If you are not quite ready to hit the court and participate in active drills, we encourage you to come out and watch!
Must sign up to participate. We will not be able to accept drop in's to ensure staff and courts.
** please note that you will have to create a Free USTA Account before signing up for this program. The system will prompt you when registering.
