USTA Junior Team Tennis (JTT) is a program that provides organized match play in a team setting. Through singles, doubles and mixed doubles formats, team competition helps kids develop a sense of individual contribution within a group.
JTT promotes social skills and important values by fostering a spirit of cooperation and unity, as well as self-growth. Whether they win or lose, kids learn that succeeding is really more about how they play the game.
Local Junior Team Tennis leagues are organized and promoted by the Corpus Christi Tennis Association. In Spring 2017 the divisions offered are 10 and under Green Dot, 12 and under beginner and intermediate and 14 and under beginner and intermediate. The age cutoff is May 31st.
Teams consist of at least 4 players, although 6 is probably ideal. In 10’s and 12’s, any combination of boys and girls may play together. In 14’s, if possible teams should be at least 2 boys and 2 girls, but other combinations are allowed.
The league will be played on the weekends of March 18-19 and April 8-9. The league will be a round robin format. Each team match will consist of singles and doubles matches and every game won helps the team total!
Cost for the league is only $30. Each player not only gets the opportunity to play some fun tennis and improve their game but will also receive a t-shirt and there will be a great party provided!
Teams that qualify as winners of each division will have the opportunity to advance to sectionals in Austin, May 19-21, 2017 to compete against league winners from around the state.
